1. Style & Period

Era: Late Victorian / Renaissance Revival influence (circa 1860s–1880s).

Form: Often described as a marble-top sideboard, buffet, credenza, or server with an étagère (tiered shelf) top.

2. Materials & Craftsmanship

Wood: Solid hardwood with rich burl walnut / flame walnut veneers across the door panels and shelf backboards.

Marble: Original fitted white/lightly veined marble slab top with rounded serpentine edges conforming to the cabinet base.

Carvings: Deeply sculpted, high-relief fruit and floral cartouches on the cabinet door panels and top crest, along with heavy carved scroll brackets supporting the display shelves.

3. Key Design Features

Curved / Bowed Ends: Side storage compartments with curved doors, giving the piece a smooth breakfront profile.

Storage: Upper frieze drawers over lower cabinet doors with central lock mechanisms.

Tiered Display Top: Two-tiered shelf superstructure designed historically to display fine silver, porcelain, or glassware.
